Chase the Sun is a “self-supported ride” with no broom-wagon. Each participant is responsible for their own behavior and must be able to navigate the route.
From Dicomano, the cycling route runs parallel to the regional railway line. These are the railway stations closest to the route: Rufina, Pontassieve, Florence SM Novella, S. Donnino (next to the gravel road out of Florence), Signa, Montelupo Fiorentino (easily reached by descending from Pinone southwards, along the Via Castra), Empoli (at the crossroads for Vinci continue straight along the sp43), SanMiniato-Fucecchio, Cascina (on the other Arno riverside when you’re passing Lugnano).
From Pisa station the direction is San Piero a Grado-Marina di Pisa. Keeping the station behind, at about 150m from the square, on your left there is the Trammino cycle path that leads to the sea.
Those who pass the closing gate after 4.00 – Ristorante Pinone km 175 – will not be able to choose the route with the optional climb to Buti – Colle di Calci. They must follow the CLASSIC route.
Front and rear lights are compulsory, as well as respect for the rules of the road by the participants. We advise you to bring a power bank to recharge your navigator, lights and phone.
